About The Position

The Direct Support Professional (DSP) within the Day Services Department provides Community Development Services (CDS) and Day Habilitation Services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This role focuses on community engagement and integration, ensuring individuals participate in various programs that promote socialization, personal development, and healthy recreation. The DSP will work closely with individuals in community settings, assisting them in daily activities and ensuring their needs are met under the supervision of the Director of Day Services.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Some college coursework in Therapeutic Recreation, Special Education, Human Services, Psychology, or related field preferred.
  • Experience working with adults with intellectual disabilities preferred.
  • Background in Recreation and Leisure skill development preferred.
  • Must be at least 20 years of age.
  • Possess a full valid driver's license with at least 2 years of driving experience and a clean driving record.
  • Access to a reliable vehicle with current automobile insurance is required.
  • Must have or be able to obtain CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Must successfully complete MANDT training and obtain CMT certification.
  • Must be fully vaccinated or subject to weekly testing.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with iCare Manager (iCM) is a plus.
  • In-depth working knowledge of MS Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.).

Responsibilities

  • Assists and supervises 1 individual daily within community-based activities to ensure successful integration and engagement.
  • Ensures timely and accurate record keeping of activities, notes, goals, and reports.
  • Maintains compliance with COMAR, Developmental Disabilities Administration (DDA), and Richcroft regulations.
  • Communicates regularly with the Supervisor regarding program enhancements and operational concerns.
  • Models appropriate behavior and monitors individuals' behavior, including de-escalation and conflict resolution.
  • Maintains communication with the department through written progress notes and meetings.
  • Follows agency policies and procedures and assumes additional duties as needed.
  • Participates in in-service training and staff meetings for professional development.

Benefits

  • $500 Bonus Pay Out Structure: $250 on the first day and $250 after three months of employment.
