About The Position

This position is a non-exempt position with the responsibility for supporting persons with developmental disabilities attending our Day program in New Castle County.

Requirements

  • AA Degree in related field or 2 years of experience working with special needs population.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and good driving record, and basic computer skills required.
  • Experience should include support to people with arrange of Developmental Disabilities.
  • Position requires a positive attitude toward the abilities of individuals with disabilities, good communication skills and the desire to engage people in activities that meet their interests and broaden their horizons.
  • You must be able to successfully complete clearance required by the Joseph R. Biden II and the Child Protection Act.
  • Must have an understanding of and appreciation for the Mission of The Salvation Army.
  • Child Protection Clearances DE.C 1142 & 1146, Chapter 11 of Title 16 of the Delaware Code, requires that all prospective employees complete the following clearance and background checks: DE Child Abuse History Clearance, DE State Police Criminal Record Check, FBI Criminal Record/Fingerprint Check , Drug Testing and TB Screenings.
  • Must have an understanding of and appreciation for the Mission of The Salvation Army.

  • Assists individuals with developmental disabilities in becoming more independent and engaged in activities in the local community.
  • Community day activities include recreational, socialization, volunteering, and employment opportunities.
  • The Day Activities Staff implements the organization's mission and value by supporting individuals to make positive changes in their lives.
