About The Position

A Direct Support Professional (DSP) in the Community Support Program (CSO) provides support in all areas specified in each individuals Individual Support Plan (ISP). The CSO DSP must communicate effectively with individuals served, their families or advocates, and other team members. This role requires flexibility in scheduling to meet individual support needs, including evening and weekend hours. Provides high-quality, person-centered services that align with best practice standards. Understands and delivers services in accordance with each Individual Support Plan (ISP) and Behavioral Support Plan (BSP), as applicable. Provides appropriate levels of supervision and support as outlined in the ISP and BSP. Offers individualized, person-centered activities in accordance with the ISP. Supports individuals in making informed choices consistent with their ISP. Ensures supports are delivered according to best practices and individual choice. Ensures documentation complies with all applicable laws, rules, and regulations. Completes all required documentation electronically or on paper per program requirements. Completes Event Reports in compliance with agency policy and state regulations. Maintains confidentiality and security of all individual records. Follows all financial policies and procedures related to individual funds when required by the ISP, ensuring all documentation is completed accurately. Complies with all health and safety guidelines, rules, policies, and procedures. Promotes health and safety through teaching and support as outlined in the ISP. Monitors medication setup and/or self-administration by individuals when specified in the ISP, following Level 1 Medication Administration guidelines. Performs personal care tasks when detailed in the ISP. Attends medical appointments and completes appropriate follow-up as indicated in the ISP. Identifies and assists individuals with problem-solving in situations that may threaten health and safety (e.g., no heat, plumbing issues). Demonstrates the ability to efficiently use computers or mobile devices to input, access, modify, and retrieve information. Performs all other duties as assigned. Protects the rights of all individuals served: Maintains knowledge of the rights of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Respects and advocates for the dignity, capabilities, and rights of each individual. Immediately reports any suspected or observed human rights violations. Understands that abuse, neglect, and exploitation are unacceptable and reports any concerns to administration immediately. Complies with all company policies and procedures. Maintains required certifications and credentials in accordance with agency policy and Medicaid Waiver requirements. Maintains current certifications including CPR, First Aid (FA), Crisis Intervention, and Level 1 Medication Administration. Ensures all annual training requirements are completed and current. Finds coverage for scheduled shifts when unable to work and promptly notifies the CSO Coordinator, Program Director, and other appropriate parties. Gives and receives feedback professionally and constructively. Attends team, program, and agency meetings as requested. Provides a personal cell phone number for communication with individuals served, families, guardians, Support Coordinators, CSO team members, and administration staff. Collaborates with the CSO Coordinator and Program Director to coordinate required meetings throughout the plan year. Facilitates communication between Support Coordinators, CSO management, and family members or guardians. Schedules and coordinates service monitoring meetings as requested by Support Coordinators and reports meeting details to the appropriate CSO Coordinator. Requires extended periods of walking and standing, with intermittent sitting based on individual needs and activities. May require light to heavy lifting up to 50 pounds independently. Requires occasional stooping, kneeling, bending, and stair climbing. May require physical intervention when confronted with combative or potentially dangerous behavior. Includes driving an agency or personal vehicle as part of community integration services. Work is performed in office and home environments with exposure to typical household and office noises (e.g., appliances, telephones, lawn equipment). May involve exposure to bloodborne pathogens or infectious diseases. Occasional prolonged hours or unplanned tasks may be required to meet individual medical or behavioral needs.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing.
  • Must not have been convicted of any disqualifying felony or substantiated for abuse or neglect per Missouri Department of Mental Health Employee Disqualification List.
  • Must have a reliable personal vehicle for transporting individuals served.
  • Demonstrates safe practices and upholds professional standards at all times.
  • Must obtain a Class E drivers license during new hire orientation.
  • Must maintain minimum auto insurance coverage as required by law.
  • Must receive the seasonal flu vaccination.
