About The Position

The Community Support Counselor (CSC) at ACCT Philly plays a crucial role in connecting the shelter with the community, serving as the first point of contact for visitors.   • Comfortable working with animals of varying species, sizes, and temperaments.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 50lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Greet all visitors to ACCT Philly with a warm and welcoming tone, engaging in empathetic communication.
  • Multi-task between in-person and phone/email customers, ensuring timely communication.
  • Provide information about ACCT Philly departments and services, as well as other relevant city services.
  • Triage client needs and direct them to appropriate ACCT Philly staff and partners.
  • Support clients seeking lost pets by accommodating shelter walkthroughs and providing best practices for lost and found.
  • Demonstrate exceptional animal handling skills to ensure safe interactions for pets and people.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and a neat workspace at all times.
  • Assist other departments as needed.
  • Provide supportive animal admissions services to clients, both by appointment and walk-ins.
  • Document thorough intake notes and scan/photograph animals at the time of intake.
  • Communicate with other departments regarding animals needing immediate attention.
  • Accurately update and enter records in the shelter management system throughout the intake and outcomes processes.
  • Collect and document relevant fees, issue licenses, and solicit donations.
  • Advise management when a client may need additional support for a successful outcome.
  • Maintain welcoming lobbies and public spaces, ensuring cleanliness.
  • Answer phones, check voicemails, and return calls.
