Responsibilities

  • Wear a uniform, badge, and firearm provided by the Department.
  • Effectively manage a caseload, including creating case plans, conducting community surveillance, enforcing probation and parole conditions, investigating violations, and providing linkage to community resources.
  • Prepare, review, and maintain case files, including performing background checks, DNA testing, drug testing, fingerprinting, and photographing for new cases; writing detailed case notes and preparing reports; completing sentence computation and early terminations.
  • Work closely with counselors and treatment providers; conduct screenings and assessments for substance use and mental health.
  • Build and maintain relationships with community stakeholders.
  • Conduct interviews; prepare testimony and testify in court and parole revocation hearings.
  • Conduct arrests and searches in the office and field.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Must meet the prerequisites and complete the Basic Community Supervision Officer Training certification.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Must meet the legal requirements for peace officers as prescribed by the Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training Council (P.O.S.T.).
