About The Position
Life Enrichment Academy (LEA) is seeking dedicated individuals for the role of Community Skills Specialist. This full-time position offers a starting wage of $15.30 per hour and is designed for those who are passionate about working with individuals with developmental disabilities in both vocational and community settings. The role emphasizes a commitment to doing what is right, as encapsulated in the motto of LEA: "Do what is right, not what is easy nor what is popular." As a Community Skills Specialist, you will be responsible for interacting with individuals served, their families, guardians, and various stakeholders in a professional and positive manner. Your primary duties will include training individuals to enhance their independence, scheduling vocational work assignments, and maintaining accurate documentation in compliance with regulations set forth by Medicaid and other governing bodies. You will also facilitate community-integrated programming, assist individuals with daily living activities such as meals and hygiene, and prepare and administer medications as required. In addition to these responsibilities, you will participate in annual assessments and service planning meetings, attend training sessions, and adhere to health and safety guidelines to ensure a secure environment for both individuals served and coworkers. The role requires physical capabilities, including the ability to lift, push, pull, and support a minimum of 25 pounds, as well as prolonged periods of sitting, standing, and walking during an 8-hour shift. Driving is also a key component of the job, as you will be responsible for transportation in community-integrated activities.
