About The Position

Join the Parker Police Department's Community Services Division as a Community Service Officer (CSO) and make a real impact on your community! This position supports the Patrol Division by handling non-sworn law enforcement duties that do not require arrest authority. CSOs respond to animal control and municipal code violations, as well as non-emergency calls-for-service. Requirements

  • Requires a high school diploma or GED equivalent supplemented by two (2) years of related experience.
  • An associate degree in public administration, public relations, animal behavior, animal science, criminal justice, or related field is preferred.
  • Two (2) years of code enforcement or animal care/control is preferred.
  • Possession of or ability to obtain State and National Animal Control certifications within eighteen (18) months of hire.
  • Possession of or ability to obtain one (1) of the following certifications within eighteen (18) months of hire: the Colorado Association of Code Enforcement Officials, the American Association of Code Enforcement, the International Code Council Certified Zoning Officer, or the International Code Council Certified Property Maintenance/Housing Inspector.
  • Possession of or ability to obtain a valid Driver's License issued by the State of Colorado for the type of vehicle operated; safe driving record and minimum of two (2) years of driving history.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts on-site inspections to determine compliance with Municipal Code, drafts notices of violations, issues warnings, citations, and writes summonses into Municipal Court.
  • Educates the community, landowners, the public, pet owners, and other Town and governmental entities on Town laws, ordinances, codes, and regulations.
  • Enforces animal care/control ordinances and responds to calls for service regarding animals.
  • Enforces all parking ordinances.
  • Assists patrol when required with found property, traffic direction, trespass notifications, camping violations, and other non-emergency calls for service.
  • Initiates appropriate corrective action on potential violations including testifying in court as required.
  • Documents and maintains all records taken to achieve compliance with Town laws, ordinances, codes, and regulations; gathers evidence and prepares reports.
  • Develops and implements educational and outreach programs for citizen groups, the community, and the general public.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
