About The Position

The Community Services Coordinator is responsible for organizing, planning, and implementing recreational programs and events for the City of Grover Beach. This role involves overseeing various activities for different age groups, including youth camps, senior programs, and special events. The coordinator also assists in training and supervising staff and volunteers, ensuring effective community engagement and program delivery.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a related field is desirable.
• Two years of experience implementing recreation programs or events.
• Possession of a valid Class C California driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Organizes, plans, and implements recreational programs such as youth camps and senior programs.
• Assists with hiring, training, and supervision of volunteer, seasonal, temporary, contract, and/or part-time personnel.
• Coordinates and develops community engagement and recreation programs.
• Oversees classes, workshops, and activities for participants in recreation programs.
• Designs and creates marketing and promotional materials, including flyers and social media posts.
• Purchases supplies for program activities and transports them as needed.
• Assists in the organization, implementation, and evaluation of rules and procedures for programs.
• Monitors and controls expenditures for assigned program budgets.
• Researches new program ideas and maintains records and reports.
• Attends meetings related to the Parks, Recreation and Beautification Commission and may give presentations.
• Facilitates facility rentals and coordinates with other departments and renters.
• Responds to public inquiries and investigates complaints regarding programs.
