About The Position

The Community Services Coordinator is responsible for organizing, planning, and implementing various recreational programs and events for the City of Grover Beach. This role involves overseeing activities for different age groups, including youth camps, senior programs, and special events, while also supervising volunteer and part-time personnel. The coordinator plays a key role in community engagement and ensures the smooth operation of recreational activities.

Requirements

• Two years of experience implementing recreation programs or events.
• An associate's degree or equivalent; a bachelor's degree in a related field is desirable.
• Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Class C California driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Organizes, plans, and implements assigned recreational programs and events.
• Assists with the hiring, training, and supervision of volunteer, seasonal, temporary, contract, and/or part-time personnel.
• Coordinates, develops, and implements community engagement and recreation programs.
• Oversees classes, workshops, and activities for participants in recreation programs.
• Designs and creates marketing and promotional materials, including flyers and social media posts.
• Purchases supplies for program activities and transports them as needed.
• Assists in the organization, implementation, and evaluation of rules and procedures.
• Monitors and controls expenditures for assigned areas.
• Researches new program ideas and maintains records and reports.
• Attends meetings related to the Parks, Recreation and Beautification Commission and may give presentations.
• Facilitates facility rentals and coordinates with other departments and renters.
• Responds to public inquiries and investigates complaints.
