About The Position

The Community Service Officer I position at the Stockton Police Department is an entry-level role designed to support sworn police officers by handling non-hazardous police-related duties. The officer will engage with the community, investigate incidents, prepare reports, and coordinate events, all while working under general supervision. Requirements

• Possession of a high school diploma or GED.
• Two years of experience with substantial public contact and general office clerical work.
• Must possess a valid California driver's license.
• Must be able to lift and carry 50 pounds.
• Must pass a detailed background investigation.

Responsibilities

• Relieve sworn police officers of non-hazardous police related duties.
• Act as a liaison between the community and Police Department for crime prevention purposes.
• Coordinate service needs for events held at city facilities.
• Provide information and referrals in non-hazardous situations to the public.
• Assist with and respond to non-emergency and emergency calls as directed.
• Gather information and complete investigative reports on various incidents.
• Prepare for and testify at criminal, civil, and administrative proceedings.
• Conduct neighborhood watch meetings and coordinate special Police Department functions.
• Operate a computer to input citation data and generate reports.
• Provide traffic and crowd control for accidents and special functions.
