Performs a wide variety of entry-level limited-commissioned duties within the Police Department. Under general supervision and at the direction of the Chief of Police or designee(s). The Olympia Police Department’s Community Service Officer (CSO) program is comprised of non-commissioned and limited-commissioned personnel performing a wide variety of duties within the police department. This program is a support function in collaboration between local peace officers, the municipal court, contract jail facilities, and the community. CSOs will respond to non-criminal calls for service as well as provide education, public safety, transportation, and outreach services that do not require the full authority of a peace officer. The Olympia Police Department is an actively engaged full-service law enforcement agency providing a wide range of law enforcement and social services to the community of Olympia.
