About The Position

The Community Restoration AmeriCorps Member will engage in various environmental and community stewardship activities aimed at restoring coastal wetlands and enhancing community engagement. The role involves hands-on work in restoration projects, monitoring water quality, and creating sustainable gardens, while also facilitating community outreach and education.

Responsibilities

  • Coastal wetland buffer restoration and associated data collection, monitoring, modeling and surveying activities.
  • Install vegetated buffers with native plants and trees.
  • Creation and maintenance of stormwater parks.
  • Marsh grass cultivation and planting using Living Shorelines techniques.
  • Freshwater and saltwater quality monitoring including water sampling, testing, data collection, and reporting.
  • Disseminate information, outreach, and training to community members.
  • Creation and maintenance of native rain gardens, pollinator gardens, and urban vegetable gardens.
  • Participate and facilitate local community outreach and workshops.
  • Support the direct installation of energy efficiency measures.
