The responsibilities of this job include, but are not limited to the following: Developing, applying, and managing community and media relations activities that achieve objectives in support of the departmental strategy and plan and in conjunction with the Director of Community Relations; Coordinating and overseeing Patient First involvement at special events; Being visible as a spokesperson within the assigned community by attending defined, select local events; scheduling and making presentations; participating in relevant professional associations and other community-based organizations, etc.; Facilitating and accomplishing Patient First community relations marketing objectives; Researching charities and confirming eligibility criteria; Serving as a point of contact with the media; Fostering relationships with targeted reporters and other media contact, which will serve the marketing plan and enhance the image of Patient First; Coordinating and overseeing media interviews and, if necessary, serving as a company spokesperson; Developing and distributing press releases on health issues and major events; Increasing positive media coverage of Patient First within television, radio, magazine, internet, and newspaper channels; Working within the budget as per plan, submitting expenditures accurately and in a timely manner, and reporting details as directed, especially when there is potential for exceeding the budget; Collecting and forwarding all printed Patient First ads and media articles, including those provided in conjunction with charitable contributions and also found in newspapers, posters, programs, etc.; Preparing and submitting monthly and quarterly reports on assigned areas of responsibility. Maintaining a database that includes, but is not limited to, community, media, service support contacts, and key related information; Researching, monitoring, and analyzing trends of relevant and competitive news and communication channels daily. Completing other research projects as assigned; Participating in the select development and implementation of the Patient First Market Development Fiscal Year Plan, to include forecasting of budgets, media hits, community reach, and other performance measures determined in collaboration with the Vice President, Marketing and Public Relations; Maintaining both professionalism and support for Patient First team members. Writing and coordinating timely applicable updates of select Patient First activities as assigned with: Internet and Intranet Sites Communiques, Bulletins, Newsletters, Announcements, and Memorandums Press Releases and Media Alerts Minimum education and professional requirements include, but are not limited to, the following: Employee must be 18 years of age or older; Bachelor’s degree in marketing or related field required; Minimum of two years related work experience preferred; Knowledgeable in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook; Excellent writing, interpersonal, and verbal communication skills; ability to retain poise and communicate effectively at all times; Ability to work days, evenings, and weekends to coincide with event dates; if travel away from assigned region is necessary, overnight stays may be required; Knowledgeable of the assigned region in matters relating to media, geography, community contacts, and healthcare; Organized self-starter who is capable of achieving objectives without in-person direct oversight supervision and who is comfortable working in a productive, positive manner within a team format.
