About The Position

The Community Recreation Program Coordinator II coordinates, plans, administers, supervises, and conducts recreational and cultural programs and special events. Work is performed under supervision to assist with developing, planning, marketing, and implementation of recreational, cultural and educational programs for Dallas citizens at the City’s recreation centers.

Requirements

  • 4 years experience in recreation program development, implementation, and facilitation.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Valid Driver's License.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and reviews short-term and long-term program improvement plans, and identifies goals and objectives for each program site; evaluates employee performance through site observations and provides feedback and informal coaching as needed.
  • Recruits and recommends the selection of individuals to serve as front desk staff for multiple program sites; coordinates and conducts trainings for staff based on employee feedback and job performance standards.
  • Conducts, facilitates, and participates in staff meetings for multiple sites to plan and evaluate program content, implement practices, and jointly resolve problematic areas.
  • Identifies, pursues, and coordinates additional resources for programs through grant applications, solicitation of donations, and other alternative funding processes; meets regularly with external organizations and community partners to improve program delivery and supplement current program offerings.
  • Serves on various department and external organization committees to enhance community relationships and improve program site performance; engages and communicates with various individuals and agencies to ensure program integrity and customer service.
  • Responds to citizen complaints, concerns, and feedback regarding the programs and services; works to resolve situations in a timely manner; ensures the safety and security of multiple program locations; assesses problems and works collectively with site to resolve concerns.
  • Observes and evaluates contract vendors for performance and compliance within specified scope of work; reviews site reports and surveys for accuracy; prepares and submits consolidated reports to supervisor as requested.
  • Creates, develops, and disburses marketing materials for distribution and attends various school and district events to bring visibility and increase participation at current enrichment programs.
  • Performs any and all other tasks as needed or assigned.
