The Community Programs Manager at The Old Globe is responsible for overseeing and managing arts engagement programs aimed at community involvement, particularly with older adults and underserved populations. This role includes logistical support for events, program administration, and community representation, ensuring that projects align with the organization's mission of making theatre accessible to all.

  • Oversee assigned Arts Engagement programs tailored to community engagement with older adults and underserved communities.
  • Provide logistical and operational support for the department's programs and events.
  • Manage and administer assigned programs including contracting, staffing, scheduling, and producing projects.
  • Ensure events are completed on-time and within budget.
  • Plan future projects based on program goals.
  • Represent The Old Globe and Arts Engagement in the community.
  • Coordinate and schedule program activities while communicating with internal and external parties.
  • Manage staff and artists of assigned projects including hiring, onboarding, invoicing, and scheduling.
  • Facilitate production meetings and manage performance.
  • Plan, arrange, and attend project meetings.
  • Coordinate with other departments and external partners to implement arts programming.
  • Plan and execute offsite events, classes, and workshops.
  • Develop and recruit docents and volunteers for programs.
  • A minimum of three years of related experience in arts, social services, teaching, and/or program coordination.
  • At least one year of experience working in the arts, preferably with a theatre company.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • A passion for theatre and commitment to making it accessible to all.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) or fluency in multiple languages.
  • Previous Teaching Artist experience.
  • Familiarity with the San Diego community and its cultural landscape.
  • Previous EDIA training or experience.
