About The Position

Location: Joint Command Staff, 2443 NW 24th Street, Lincoln NE Job Duties: Develops and maintains partnerships with local organizations, schools, civic organizations, and other stakeholders to increase awareness of the Nebraska Military Department. Plans and conducts community outreach events, workshops, and public information sessions to promote awareness, share resources, and engage diverse populations. Facilitate potential agency leadership engagements at community events, town halls, and meetings to provide organizational information and to garner feedback from the public. Coordinates outreach materials such as brochures, presentations, and social media content to effectively communicate organizational goals, objectives and initiatives. Serves as a point of contact for community organizations and members seeking information about the Nebraska Military Department. Works collaboratively with internal teams to ensure outreach messages are accurate and aligned with agency policies and priorities. Tracks and reports on outreach efforts, including attendance, community feedback, and areas of need or concern; recommends adjustments to improve effectiveness. Prepares and/or conducts presentations for schools, community groups, civic and veteran organizations. Starting hourly pay rate is $22.007.

Requirements

  • Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in journalism, communications, marketing, public relations, advertising, graphic arts, digital media, videography, or related field and at least one year of experience in coordinating, planning, and managing public relations/publicity campaigns, mass media communication activities and/or public information programs. Required experience may substitute for the education on a year for year basis.
  • Other: Background check will be required. Must have and maintain a valid driver's license.
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of journalism, public relations, social media communication.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in individual or group settings, with news media representatives, governmental and program officials, agency staff and the public.
