About The Position

This is a full time position in the Community Participation Department. This is a position with growing responsibilities as State Regulations and expectations evolve and as Orange Grove Center expands delivery options for people. The manager is responsible for the development of Community Participation opportunities in the Chattanooga area. He or she will perform scheduling and supporting DSPs at various volunteer locations. The manager will serve as a liaison in the community for Orange Grove Center. This person will participate in meetings on behalf of Orange Grove, participate in relevant in-services and training courses, and help facilitate meetings. This person must handle a wide range of responsibilities, demonstrating quality organizational skills, consistency, and flexibility. The Manager will consult with the Coordinator of Adult Day Services and Director of Adult Day Services regarding trainings, community events, and disciplining DSPS. This person will communicate openly and effectively with individuals, staff, and community partners. The manager will be responsible for planning volunteer opportunities for people supported, working closely with the site supervisor, and providing ratio coverage if a staff is absent. This person must be able to transition from an office setting to a community setting quickly. The manager will be responsible for ensuring the staffing plans and go files are up to date on each individual on their case load.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or five years of experience
  • Experience in management and coordinating programs preferred
  • Must possess the understanding of the importance of individuals with disabilities being active participants within their communities
  • Excellent people skills and problem solving techniques required
  • Must have good math skills and be able to schedule multiple employees in an effective manner
  • Must be capable of working within the guidelines of DDA, the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities, the Area on Aging and Disabilities, and all the other applicable governing and/or funding sources
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license with an F endorsement, a dependable vehicle, and maintain liability automobile insurance
  • Good overall physical health and personal stamina
  • Physical examination including TB skin test or chest x-ray is required prior to employment

Responsibilities
