About The Position

The Community Outreach Specialist is responsible for planning, developing and implementing the Water Utilities digital media strategy to improve online presence and overall community outreach and engagement efforts. This position will work closely with the department's Strategic Communications Manager and Public Relations Manager. As well as create preventive maintenance programs and implement/manage workflows to support them.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Adobe Pro, Sprout Social, Canva, Wix, Photoshop or Illustrator
  • Basic design and feature set up in Canva, Wix, etc
  • Knowledge of SEO and User Experience Design, A/B testing and online event management
  • Ability to synthesize complex social media and website data for monthly reports to Executive team
  • Ability to interpret and understand social media platforms and back-end website data
  • Skilled in research involving synthesis and comparison
  • Requires a Bachelor's degree. Preferred Degree in Communications, Marketing, New Media, Public Relations or Website Management
  • Minimum of three (3) years of related experience
  • A combination of education and pertinent experience may be considered
  • A valid driver's license is required. Successful out of state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hire

Nice To Haves

  • Social media management site certification such as Hootsuite, Sprout Social highly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for executing the Water Utilities social media strategy through storyboard planning, strategic goal setting, setting metric deliverables, identifying audience personas, and conducting opposition and competitive analysis in the regional market and industry.
  • Lead social media engagement
  • Moderate all user-generated content and comments
  • Engage with users to achieve superior customer engagement and drive website traffic
  • Collaborate and work with various departments and City staff to cross-promote information
  • Manage content, updates and optimization of two independent Water Utilities websites (seawater desalination and consent decree)
  • Update the three current Water Utilities web pages on the City of Corpus Christi website (Water Department, Wastewater Department and Utility Billing Office)
  • Monitor the independent inboxes associated with seawater desalination and other unique water programs for questions, comments or requests
  • Set up and optimize Water Utilities social media and web pages
  • Generate monthly reports for Executives that capture data/metrics, insights, best practices. Act on all data and analytics collected to inform content strategy
  • Generate, edit, publish and share daily content (original copy, images, and videos)
  • Generate monthly content schedules through editorial calendars
  • May be asked to perform other duties as assigned.
