About the position

The Community Outreach Intern will support ISANA's mission to build strong, sustainable partnerships with families, local organizations, businesses, and community stakeholders. This internship is ideal for a college student or recent graduate interested in education, nonprofit management, social justice, public policy, or community development. The intern will work closely with school leaders to expand outreach strategies, promote events and initiatives, and build networks that support student success and whole-child development. This person commits to fostering a diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment where individuals from various cultural, ethnic, racial, and religious backgrounds, as well as diverse gender identities, sexual orientations, and abilities, are valued and celebrated ensuring that our educational practices and curriculum reflect the histories, perspectives, and experiences of all peoples. This is a Classified Non-Exempt Position.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and connect with local organizations, businesses, and nonprofits that align with school goals and student needs.
  • Assist with developing and maintaining a community partnership directory.
  • Support partnership outreach efforts through phone calls, emails, and in-person meetings.
  • Attend community events, school board meetings, or town halls to represent the school and gather insights.
  • Help design inclusive outreach materials (flyers, newsletters, social media posts) in multiple languages.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a college or university program in education, social work, public administration, communications, or a related field.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Passion for equity, public education, and community empowerment.
  • Bilingual or multilingual candidates encouraged to apply.
  • Comfortable using Google Suite, Canva, social media platforms, and email marketing tools.
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
