About The Position

Under supervision, provides outreach and social service assistance in support of the Clean and Sober Outreach and General Assistance program. This position involves community engagement, telephone calls, and home visits to interview and identify clients' needs for behavioral health, transportation, or social service assistance. The role includes developing and implementing outreach strategies to increase awareness of the behavioral health program within the community, informing clients of available services, and referring them to appropriate service providers or community resources. Additionally, the position requires collaboration with local organizations, schools, businesses, and community leaders to establish partnerships and expand outreach efforts.

Requirements

  • Graduation from high school or equivalent.
  • Six months of related experience in a community services organization.
  • Ability to obtain 40 hours of training to become a Certified Peer Counselor within 6 months of hire.
  • Understanding of behavioral health issues, SUD, and MH conditions.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships with a diverse community.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • General computer proficiency and ability to use electronic health records.
  • Commitment to confidentiality and ethical conduct.
  • Valid driver's license and access to transportation.

Nice To Haves

  • 2 years of experience as Peer Specialist with certification through WA State Health Care Authority.
  • Experience working as part of a crisis response team.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct community engagement, telephone calls, and home visits to identify clients' needs.
  • Develop and implement outreach strategies to increase awareness of behavioral health programs.
  • Inform clients of available services and refer them to appropriate service providers.
  • Assist clients in filling out forms and advocate on their behalf when necessary.
  • Collaborate with local organizations and community leaders to expand outreach efforts.
  • Transport and/or accompany clients to obtain medical, SUD, or Mental Health treatment.
  • Conduct periodic home visits to monitor client needs.
  • Participate in training the community on Overdose Prevention kits and Harm Reduction.
  • Organize and participate in community events and workshops to educate the public.
  • Maintain accurate records of outreach activities and community partnerships.
  • Collaborate with internal behavioral health team members to align outreach efforts.
  • Support administrative functions within the Behavioral Health Program.
