About The Position

The Choose Freedom Coordinator purpose is to support youth impacted by incarceration and/or gun violence. Our community navigators build relationships with youth while they are incarcerated and continue to support them upon release or work with youth who are at risk of being actively involved within gun, gang, or community violence. The mission of CHOOSE Freedom is to help young people to see their potential and to understand their power without violence.

Requirements

  • Commitment to the vision and goals of CHOOSE 180
  • Must be able to pass background check and other criteria for working in the prison systems
  • Must be able to travel between King and Pierce County to support participants and facilitate groups

Nice To Haves

  • 2-3 years of client service experience preferred
  • Experience working with or in the criminal legal system
  • Personal experience of recovery around gun violence
  • Critical response experience with deescalating possible volatile situations

Responsibilities

  • Provide trauma-informed support and case management to CHOOSE Freedom participants who are impacted or at risk of being impacted by gun, gang, and community violence
  • Actively conduct outreach and collaborate with the community based organizations for referrals, facilitating a smooth process for participants to engage with and enter the program
  • Utilizing the Freedom curriculum, provide one-to-one sessions with participants, addressing their needs, and working with them to identify, set and achieve their goals
  • Provide comprehensive case management to participants, including connecting participants to necessary resources, or other CHOOSE 180 programs
  • As needed, work with other CHOOSE 180 programs for referrals, group sessions and other opportunities for peer support and collective learning
  • Co-Facilitate group sessions, working alongside other CHOOSE 180 facilitators to lead group sessions (virtually and in-person), ensuring a supportive and engaging environment for participants (groups may be held within juvenile facilities, schools, or community spaces)
  • Regularly report participant data, notes, and basic needs request into apricot, maintaining comprehensive records of participants progress and program outcomes
  • Participate in community meetings and discussions, representing CHOOSE 180.
  • Provide ongoing feedback to CHOOSE 180 Program Managers, and Directors as it relates to program efficiency, opportunities to enhance or scale back
  • Actively participate in all CHOOSE 180 meetings, trainings, supervisions, and professional development opportunities
