About The Position

The primary responsibility of the Community Navigator is to provide language interpretation and assist the organization in providing timely information and support to refugees and asylum seekers, toward their self-reliance. The Community Navigator will be joining a growing organization that is spearheading new initiatives that are changing the face of humanitarian response.

Requirements

  • Be a resident of Eastleigh or its environs.
  • Be fluent in English, Kiswahili, and Somali language.
  • Must hold a Refugee ID or recent Government verification documents.
  • Must have a minimum of secondary school education.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Cultural sensitivity and the ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Experience in community work.

Responsibilities

  • Provide language interpretation and translation.
  • Support RefugePoint staff navigating while conducting home visits, business monitoring and other visits.
  • Conduct household visits and share the requested information, including entering data using the provided tools.
  • Participate in community education as directed by RefugePoint.
  • Provide accurate and timely information to refugees and migrants.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with refugee communities.
  • Participate in community mobilization as directed by RefugePoint.
  • Accompany clients and guide them to access certain services when called upon.
  • Provide relevant updates from the community to RefugePoint.
  • Participate in training and capacity-building programs to enhance skills and knowledge.
  • Attend to any other duties assigned by the line supervisor.
