Position Summary The Supervisor in Community Living department supervises all employees assigned to one residential site. Supervision of employees includes the training, appraisal, and assigning of duties as well as the coordination of all aspects of care of the residents. The Supervisor assumes fiscal responsibility for both the house budget and the petty cash of the residents. The Supervisor is responsible for incident prevention, incident management, and incident response. The Supervisor uses creativity and flexibility in managing staff and resources. Excellent interpersonal skills and a high level of compassion are necessary as this position works with a diverse population

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree and one year’s experience working with people with intellectual disabilities; High School diploma and 4 years’ experience.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability.
  • Experience designing outcomes.
  • Experience with assessment instruments.
  • Valid PA driver’s license.

Responsibilities

  • Provide a supportive, caring, safe, and home-like environment by attending to individual needs, respecting differences, and supporting growth and independence.
  • Supervise and assist each program participant with day-to-day activities.
  • Assist with the referral process including visitations and pre-admission meetings; orientation of residents and family/guardian; and completion of initial assessments and recommendations for initial outcomes.
  • Implement individual program planning: including completion of Annual and Quarterly review forms; establishing, developing, and writing outcomes; implementation and monitoring of outcomes; including the training of staff, and assist in development of specialized programs.
  • Monitor health needs of residents including scheduling and attending annual and occasional appointments, insuring that all required paperwork is accurately completed and submitted in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate supportive services, including initiating referrals, attending meetings with specialists, reviewing documentation, and reporting concerns to specialists.
  • Address immediate problems of the residents in collaboration with program staff, referring concerns to the Director.
  • Assist with completion of in-house orientation of new employees.
  • Supervise all personnel assigned to the residential site, including establishing expectations, monitoring of performance with on-the-spot feedback and annual appraisals.
  • Conduct regular staff meetings to disseminate agency and resident information.
  • Schedule staff. Assume responsibility for covering staff shortages and for finding replacement staff in the event of call-offs.
  • Review electronic timecards and ensure timely submission for payroll processing.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate policies and procedures and regulatory compliance.
  • Complete or ensure completion of all required reports and forms, including medical reports, household budgets and resident expenditures, maintenance and repair requests, incident reporting, programmatic reports, meeting minutes, menus, fire safety compliance, and inventory report forms.
  • Complete internal licensing inspections and make preparations for annual state licensing.
  • Host visitors.
  • Communicate all relevant program and personnel information to the Director.
  • Attend meetings and professional development programs as required, with a minimum of 24 training hours each training year.
  • Provide transportation to residents as needed.
  • In the event of an emergency or extreme staff shortage, the Supervisor may be required to serve as sleepover staff.
  • Regular attendance at work.
  • Other duties as assigned.
