About The Position

Poplar Springs Hospital is a 183 bed acute care and residential facility. For more than 30 years Poplar Springs Hospital has been guided by its mission of helping those who need the full continuum of behavioral health services. Our facility offers behavioral and psychological treatment for adults and adolescents through our acute programs, adolescent residential programs, as well as programs for active duty military. Poplar Springs Hospital is located in Petersburg, Virginia, 20 minutes south of Richmond and 50 minutes north of North Carolina. Situated on 25 acres, our serene, nature-like setting offers our patients a sense of calm and peace. Much more online at: https://poplarsprings.com/ We have a new opening for a Community Liaison in the Roanoke Virginia area. The Community Liaison will thoroughly develop contacts, assists in development of a positive image of the hospital in the local, medical and allied health communities, in order to enhance admissions. May coordinate with clinical and teaching staff to produce brochures, fact sheets and other mental health information. May conduct or coordinate hospital tours, survey public opinion, host and coordinate special events such as speakers or seminars, or coordinate and participate in community health and other events. Other duties as assigned. Hours will vary and applicants need to have flexibility with his/her availability. While this is a remote position, 50% travel is required/weekly. Daily travel. 1-2 overnights a week. M-F however weekends will be needed if we need to cover a community event. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work/Psychology/related healthcare field or Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration/Marketing /related business development field required.
  • Licensed RN/LPN may be substituted for Bachelor’s requirement.
  • Requires a valid driver’s license and dependable transportation.
  • Must be able to demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to make a positive impression on community professions, as 95% of day is spent working with and around others; ability to acquire a thorough knowledge of hospital staffing, programs, therapies, and milieu and be able to explain these to contacts; self-direction and initiative, as work is variable; a professional standard of appearance; ability to adapt to differing management styles; a team attitude and effort.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age per Commonwealth of Virginia Behavioral Health & Developmental Services
  • Must have patience, tact, and a cheerful disposition and enthusiasm
  • Good communication skills; must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
  • Basic clerical skills, basic experience with office equipment (telephone, copy machine, fax, etc.)
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)
  • Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions
  • Ability to problem solve and accept feedback when circumstances warrant such actions
  • Willingness to interact with patients with varying levels of cognitive functioning
  • Daily Travel

  • Previous experience in mental health field and/or marketing/sales preferred.
