Our role as the nation’s largest and most experienced Financial Management Service (FMS) provider is to assist people accessing services to choose and pay for their own caregivers, support workers and services within their state-approved personalized services through the California Department of Developmental Services. We are appointed or approved by states, managed healthcare organizations, or case management agencies, like the Regional Centers, to better serve more of their participants requiring services and supports and ensure the efficient use of taxpayer funded services and program funds. This role specifically works with participants and stakeholders in the Self-Determination Program and Participant Directed Services that are supported through the Regional Centers. Applicants must currently reside in Northern California to be considered for this position. Job Summary The Community Liaison promotes PPL’s mission by building relationships and increasing awareness of the Self-Determination Program and Participant Directed Services across Northern CA regions. This role connects individuals to Financial Management Services, engages with community partners and stakeholders, and identifies opportunities to improve service delivery. Through outreach, education, and collaboration, the Community Liaison ensures PPL is a trusted resource across diverse communities.

  • Knowledge of developmental disability services in California.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Human Services, or Sociology strongly preferred. Substantial professional experience in a related field may be considered in lieu of a formal degree.
  • Experience: 2+ years of relevant experience in community engagement efforts related to delivering resources to diverse and underserved communities preferred

Responsibilities

  • Community Engagement and Outreach Helps strengthen the organization’s image in the community by supporting our mission and philosophy.
  • Represents PPL and spreads education and awareness about the Self-Determination Program and Participant Directed Services at community outreach events, including underserved communities.
  • Creates and finds opportunities to build awareness or support for the Self-Determination Program, Participant Directed Services, and PPL.
  • Attends regional events as necessary to build the organization’s brand across the state.
  • Stakeholder and Relationship Management Connects and refers people to PPL to learn about FMS options that can best meet their needs.
  • Collaborates cross-functionally with resources, community partners, case managers to facilitate even stronger service delivery and relationships in the community.
  • Ensures PPL is listed as a resource with community organizations, state organizations, or anywhere people are looking for FMS organizations.
  • Connects with referral sources to see how PPL can best support their needs and streamline the referral process and support ongoing services.
  • Provides linkages and referrals from other community-focused programs and organizations to PPL.
  • Collaborates internally to enhance programming for consumers and participants.
  • Education and Advocacy Creates and delivers presentations and/or training to program participants, case managers, community organizations and other stakeholders about PPL and our role as the FMS.
  • Active participant in meetings and discussions about the Self-Determination Program and Participant Directed Services, including on-going advisory and stakeholders committee meetings.
  • Actively gathers information from stakeholders about the programs we support to ensure PPL is delivering services in a way that meets the needs of participants.
  • Program Development and Continuous Improvement Identifies gaps in services and brings solutions internally to streamline processes or make systems better for stakeholders.
  • Assesses and assists in utilizing available data and how it may be used in the context of our community presence.
