About The Position

The Community Liaison Worker Level II position at NYC Health + Hospitals involves performing liaison functions between City agencies, local residents, and community organizations. The role is focused on providing assistance, obtaining participation and support for housing and community development, and implementing public service programs. The position is grant funded and requires working hours from 9:00 A.M to 5:00 P.M. The worker will engage in various tasks, including interviewing community members, preparing informational materials, and supervising staff. The position is classified as temporary and full-time, with a salary range of $48,206.00 to $54,692.00.

Requirements

  • One year of full-time experience in a government agency or community organization providing community services to the public.
  • Completion of an approved six-month training program in community liaison work plus six months of relevant experience.
  • Two additional years of full-time experience in counseling, community work, or community health activities for Level II appointment.
  • Education equivalent to experience may be substituted, with at least one year of full-time experience required.

Nice To Haves

  • Study at an accredited college in sociology, psychology, or other behavioral sciences may be beneficial.

Responsibilities

  • Perform liaison activities between City agencies, local residents, and community organizations.
  • Interview local residents, landlords, government personnel, business people, and youths to solicit support for community development programs.
  • Assist in the preparation and distribution of informational materials relating to community programs and objectives.
  • Train subordinate staff and supervise their activities.
  • Make written and oral reports as required and keep records related to programs and activities.
  • Direct staff or work as a team with other community liaison workers.
  • Consult and maintain liaison with various stakeholders including residents and community organizations.
  • Explain programs and policies to community groups and relay information from the community.
  • Participate in planning and implementing programs involving community participation.
  • Assist in mediating problems between the community and City agencies.
  • Work as part of an interdisciplinary team to provide supportive therapy and referrals.
  • Counsel community residents and property owners on their rights and available resources.
  • Make recommendations for effective mobilization and program improvement.
  • Interview community residents and assist them in completing forms.
