The Community Liaison has the primary responsibility for developing and maintaining home-school communication in matters related to social and academic growth of identified students. Essential Functions Reporting directly to the Supervisor of ELL in coordination with the principal, the Community Liaison, ELL performs the following duties: Act as a central point of contact to welcome EL parents, help with enrollment, answer questions about FCPS, and assist students/parents to get off to a good start Works collaboratively with FCPS personnel to assist parents new to Frederick County Public Schools. Develop parent education programs in attitudes, skills, and tasks for supporting their child's education. Helps organize parent events for parents and community members. Assist parents in understanding and utilizing school programs available to students. Connect EL parents with appropriate community services to ensure that parents and children have support necessary to excel in FCPS Communicate parent concerns to FCPS stakeholders as appropriate. Participate in professional learning to enhance job related skills. Transport children and families as appropriate. Collaborates with the International Office to support EL families. Maintain confidential information and records. Collaborates with other FCPS community liaisons as necessary. Encourage two-way communication between parent and school staff. Translate documents and interpret, as necessary. Other Functions Provides written and oral bilingual reports to schools and others as required. Performs other duties as assigned by the EL Supervisor.
