The Community Intervention Specialist (CIS) serves as a link between the Children, Youth, and Family Services (CYFS) department and local violence reduction efforts. This role is responsible for providing administrative grant support to the Community Violence Intervention (CVI) Program Manager, coordinating community engagement activities and events, as well as collaborate with community members, partners, and stakeholders across Milwaukee County.

Requirements

  • Current resident of the State of Wisconsin.
  • Current Wisconsin Driver's License.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Services, Social Work, Community Relations, Criminal Justice, or closely related field from an accredited college or university is required.
  • At least one (1) year of experience in Project Management within a Crime Analysis, Youth Justice, Community Outreach and Engagement, or related field is required.
  • Must be able to travel extensively, up to 20% of work time, within the community
  • Advanced knowledge of all related computer and software applications, such as word processing and spreadsheets.
  • Intermediate knowledge of MC Access, Database Concepts and Reporting software required.

Responsibilities

  • Community and Stakeholder Engagement. Develop and strengthen relationships with community partners and stakeholders by leading community engagement and outreach activities. Communicate and collaborate with members of the community and partners in the violence reduction efforts.
  • Collect, retrieve, and maintain data for reporting purposes. Provide up-to-date and accurate data for grant reporting. Write and submit grant reports as requested.
  • Support the leadership team on special projects and the development of CYFS protocols. Implement and manage assigned projects. Establish relationships with violence reduction partners. Identify resources and unmet needs in the community. Coordinate from a public health and community response perspective.
  • Support the CVI Program Manager in grant administration and reporting, assist in managing the Advance Peace model, and coordinate the planning team. Plan community forums, community engagement events, and travel logistics. Lead public awareness campaigns, collaborate with project partners, and represent at events.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
