About The Position

The English Language Learning program is seeking part-time instructors to teach in our Community Interpreter Certificate program. We are currently seeking instructors to teach evening classes in Arnold, or Hanover, MD. Candidates invited for an interview will be asked to give a short teaching demonstration. Requirements

• Bachelor's degree (master's degree preferred)
• Language proficiency in at least two languages (ACTFL Advanced High or above, or equivalent)
• 40-hour community interpreter Train the Trainer course, to be completed before or prior to June 30, with department funds to cover the cost of training
• Professional simultaneous and/or sequential interpreting experience
• Adult education or teaching experience in both face-to-face and online formats

Responsibilities

• Teach WLS-325 and WLS-326 (Foundations of Community Interpreting Parts 1 & 2)
• Assess and record student progress and attendance
• Meet required deadlines for submitting grades and other administrative tasks
• Participate in department professional learning events
