About The Position

The Community Initiatives Officer serves as an advisor to installation leadership at Moody Air Force Base, focusing on community initiatives, development, and engagements that impact the mission of the 23d Wing. This role involves planning, organizing, and managing activities related to community partnerships and mission sustainment, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements while enhancing mission readiness and effectiveness.

Requirements

• At least one year of specialized experience at the GS-12 level or equivalent, including expert knowledge in urban planning and managing urban installation development plans.
• In-depth knowledge of laws, regulations, and processes related to encroachment and urban planning issues.
• Knowledge of Air Force organizations and their missions, operations, and training requirements.
• Skill in providing staff advisory, planning, and review services related to compatible development affecting mission effectiveness.
• Ability to guide interdisciplinary teams and communicate effectively with various stakeholders.

• Familiarity with federal and state regulations regarding urban planning.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and manage the activities of the 23 WG Installation Mission Sustainment Program.
• Develop and maintain strategic partnerships with government and public agencies to enhance mission readiness.
• Proactively manage risks to protect current missions and prepare for future missions.
• Coordinate activities of Community Initiatives Teams and the Air Force Community Partnership Program.
• Represent the Air Force with various organizations on behalf of Moody Air Force Base.
• Investigate problem areas and implement corrective actions to ensure mission viability.
