About The Position

The 2nd Shift Job Coach/Direct Support Professional (DSP) supports adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities during the evening hours (2:00 PM–10:00 PM). This role is hands-on and focused on providing direct support, teaching daily living and vocational skills, ensuring health and safety, and supporting participation in work and community activities. Staff are expected to be reliable, engaged, and able to follow individualized support plans while promoting dignity, independence, and choice.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Experience working with individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities, or willingness to be trained.
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to complete required documentation accurately and timely.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks associated with direct care and program support.
  • Ability to provide consistent, respectful, and person-centered support.
  • Strong communication and observation skills.
  • Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Professional judgment when supporting individuals with varying needs.

Nice To Haves

  • DSP certification or related human services training.
  • CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Training or experience in behavior support, crisis intervention, or de-escalation.
  • Post-secondary coursework in human services, psychology, or a related field.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct support to individuals based on their individualized service plans, including behavioral and skill-building supports.
  • Assist, teach and model vocational skills and customer service.
  • Support individuals during work, program, and community activities, encouraging independence and appropriate social skills.
  • Complete cleaning and organizational tasks to maintain safe, sanitary, and functional program environments.
  • Observe, document, and report daily activities, progress, incidents, and concerns accurately and on time.
  • Transport individuals safely to and from program sites, job locations, and community activities as assigned.
  • Follow agency policies, safety procedures, and regulatory requirements at all times.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding individual needs, changes, or concerns.
