The Community Inclusion Assistant (CIA) is a vital member of the school instructional team, responsible for providing instructional support to students in acquiring daily living, community living, and vocational skills. CIAs will provide direct instruction and training at community service and job sites, as well as during off-site educational experiences. They will track and document student progress and provide instructional support in the classroom when not assigned off-site. CIAs are expected to represent the Cooke School professionally and engage in ongoing professional development.

  • Provide instructional support to students in daily living and vocational skills.
  • Track and document student progress in vocational and community settings.
  • Provide travel training to students en route to community service and job sites.
  • Collaborate with internship hosts to accommodate student needs.
  • Attend all scheduled staff development activities and staff orientation sessions.
  • Provide one-to-one or small group training at internship sites.
  • Assist in developing short and long-term goals for student internship placements.
  • Administer functional assessments to students.
  • Model and coach students on appropriate work-related behaviors.
  • Keep accurate documentation of student performance.
  • Associate’s degree or a minimum of 60 credits towards a Bachelor’s degree.
  • A minimum of two years of professional experience working with Students with Special Needs.
  • Classroom experience and/or experience in the field of adult services.
