We are currently hiring a Community Impact Manager in our Tampa Bay market based in St. Petersburg. This role advances the mission of the American Heart Association by fostering relationships with community leaders (health systems, EMS, etc.), volunteers, and multi-sector organizations to advance cardiac emergency response education and preparedness, distribution of resources, and establishment of policies. This role supports initiatives that drive policy, systems, and environmental (PSE) changes to improve community health outcomes. Manages outreach efforts, leads volunteer-driven initiatives, and ensures the Association’s impact is effectively communicated and measured within the community. In this hybrid role, the Community Impact Manager will work from the St. Petersburg office at least 1-2 times/week and travel as needed for external meetings and events throughout the following counties: Pinellas, Pasco, Hillsborough, Hernando, Highlands, Hardee, Polk, and Marion. May include some nights and weekends. This position is a fixed term, funded through 12/31/2028 - 20 hours per week - $30/hr. Requirements

  • Up to 2 years of relevant experience with EMS/community/public health issues and/or managing community/public health promotion or related educational programs or other related experience.
  • University/College degree or equivalent experience.
  • Proven ability to recruit, mobilize and manage volunteers, including C-suite level executives.
  • Effective relationship management, with the ability to gain trust and influence without authority.
  • Self-starter who works well in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive toward results.
  • Proven ability to apply marketing insights to develop appropriate strategies.
  • Ability to do daily local travel; requires access to reliable transportation at all times.
  • Ability to lift and/or move large objects (such as boxes) with the expectation that heavier items would be broken down into smaller components or requesting additional assistance may be required before lifting and/or moving.
  • Must have at least basic knowledge and skill/proficiency with Microsoft Office.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of the social determinants of health (SDOH) as it relates to cardiac emergency preparedness and health disparities, to improve widespread community CPR education, and access to AEDs, and policy/system-wide changes.
  • Understanding of local health systems, EMS agencies, relationships with hospitals, health clinics, and Federally Qualified Health Centers.
  • Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish.
  • Experience collecting, managing, and analyzing data to drive cardiac emergency preparedness strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and nurtures relationships with businesses, healthcare providers, community organizations, and government agencies to enhance community-wide cardiac emergency preparedness; including: CPR education, AED distribution, and establishment of policies. Collaborates with volunteers and key stakeholders to identify and implement strategies related to Nation of Lifesavers.
  • Drives cardiac-emergency response preparedness focused PSE changes to improve bystander intervention in cardiac emergencies, establish cardiac emergency response policies, increase widespread promotion of community CPR education, and other actions to support this work and improve out-of-hospital cardiac arrest survival rates.
  • Recruits, trains, and manages volunteers and strategic community alliances (faith-based institutions, federally qualified health centers, grassroots community organizations, etc.) in support of our efforts to improve health, engage in collective impact initiatives, and create a sustainable culture of emergency preparedness throughout the market. Engages volunteers to focus on priority communities and collective impact goals.
  • Implements and tracks performance metrics to demonstrate the effectiveness of Association’s community impact programs. Evaluates program success, identifies areas for improvement, and provides recommendations to enhance outreach and engagement strategies.
  • Acts as subject matter expert in American Heart Association initiatives and programs for community engagement in cardiac emergency preparedness and related activities.
  • Coordinates community health education initiatives and public awareness campaigns related to CPR education, AED distribution, and policy development. Communicates the Association’s goals and mission with stakeholders through strategic outreach and engagement.
  • Participates in an array of community initiatives and represents the organization at community gatherings, events, fairs or forums.
