About The Position

The Community Impact Intern is a key member of the team that is enabling and sharing Patterson’s philanthropy with employees, partners, and stakeholders. This position is responsible for supporting two main functions within Patterson: The Patterson Foundation and the Corporate Giving department. Partnering with the Sr. Manager and Grants Officer on both functions, this role will support the Patterson Foundation’s grantmaking and programming details related to the grants process and award distribution, event planning activities related to fundraising events, and provide basic reporting and documentation support. The Corporate Giving department will value this role’s participation in supporting national and local volunteer partnerships, employee engagement reporting, and basic process documentation . This is a perfect role for someone that enjoys event planning , making a difference with impactful nonprofits , feels good about the work they are doing in the community , geeks out over improv ing old processes, and isn’t bothered by working in a continually developing, oftentimes fluid department.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree pursuit : with majors that directly relate to philanthropy, development, nonprofit management, marketing, and communications.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft products.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present effectively to small and large groups.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of individuals and constituencies in a diverse community.
  • Ability to foster effective working relationships within a team environment.
  • Recent experience volunteering or partnering with a nonprofit organization.

Nice To Haves

  • Special preference will be given to those that demonstrate a working knowledge of CRMs.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the administrative needs of our community grants program through our online grants management system.
  • Schedule grant check presentations with Patterson team members, Board members, and nonprofit partners.
  • Ensure all parties have the materials needed for grant check presentation meetings.
  • Schedule coaching calls for grant partners who have been denied by our program officer.
  • Manage the Patterson Foundation inbox, monitoring for employee referrals , Dollars for Doers requests, and answering grantee partners’ questions about updating contact information in our system and any application questions .
  • Execute plans for local and national virtual and in-person fundraising events and activities in partnership with the Sr. Manager.
  • Solicit silent auction items from a variety of sources.
  • Collect and document the available items using the silent auction website and mobile app.
  • Manage the close of the silent auction, including all payment processing and communication.
  • Executing on the fundraising strategy set by the Sr. Manager , print and ship signage and marketing collateral for fundraising events and activities.
  • General program support duties for live events and meetings.
  • Manage the Dollars for Doers requests and complete monthly reports on the progress and trends .
  • Complete regular volunteer reporting and create executive-level reporting templates.
  • Manage an ongoing calendar of volunteer opportunities on Inside/Patterson and share the opportunities with the Take FIVE Volunteering team.
  • Communicate Inside/Patterson updates and other communication updates regarding volunteerism to the Corporate Marketing team.
  • Execute event details for Patterson’s Giving Week, including, but not limited to, scheduling planning meetings, sharing planning materials, coordinating a communication plan with all Patterson stakeholders (building maintenance, Tax, sourcing, etc.), coordinating activities with vendors, and more.
  • Complete the Foundation’s database entry and other database work as assigned.
  • Prepare and submit check orders, payment invoices, and reports.
  • Manage all accounts payable requests between the Patterson Foundation and Patterson (and vice versa).
  • Assist with stewardship efforts to thank our donors
  • Responsible for filing and maintaining office documentation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned
