COMMUNITY IMPACT COORDINATOR I Non-Exempt Reports to: Community Impact Leader The primary purpose of this position is to assist Members First Credit Union to deliver on its mission, vision, and brand promise. You will do this by living out our core values in every service contact to both internal and external members. Essential Duties Support the Community Impact Leader in community outreach, partnership, sponsorship and volunteerism activities for M1 with a focus on M1’s Giving Pillars of Education, Housing, and Well-being. Serve as the primary coordinator for incoming sponsorship, donation, volunteer, and item requests, ensuring alignment with M1 charitable giving policies and tracking outcomes. Be a visible presence in the community, actively representing the credit union in the community to foster strong relationships and support the Community Impact Leader with initiatives through M1’s Giving Pillars. Weekend, evening hours, and travel required. This is a hybrid position with the expectation of 3 days in the office. Successfully obtain the Certified Credit Union Financial Counselor (CCUFC) designation through America’s Credit Unions within the first year of service with M1.

  • Effectively apply and maintain financial counseling concepts, gained through America's Credit Unions' Financial Counseling Certification Program (FiCEP), to promote financial well-being.
  • Ability to move or transport up to 25 pounds.
  • Able to remain stationary for 2-4 hours at a time.
  • Must maintain a neat and orderly work area.
  • Routinely clean and disinfect work areas (i.e. teller stations, desk surfaces, phones, electronic equipment).
  • Protect the confidentiality of credit union staff and members by locking door or removing items from desk/workstation when away.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of two to three years of related professional experience in community relations, event coordination, nonprofit engagement, marketing, or a similar field.
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite and or Canva.
  • Proven ability to prioritize effectively and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and execute community impact programs aligned with M1’s giving pillars: housing, education, and well-being.
  • Support Community Impact Leader with planning and logistics for volunteer events, sponsorships, community summit, and outreach initiatives.
  • Represent M1 at community meetings, committee meetings, and partner events, ensuring professional, joyful, and mission-aligned engagement.
  • Support the Community Impact Leader in developing new initiatives on community needs and trends.
  • Manage the LFL program, including inventory and restocking schedules.
  • Source, sort, and distribute books; coordinate branch and community book drives.
  • Track book metrics (books distributed, volunteer hours), and capture photos and stories for Marketing and the Impact Report.
  • Plan, schedule, and deliver financial education presentations at schools and youth organizations across M1 communities.
  • Tailor presentations to age groups and learning goals (budgeting, saving, credit, digital banking, fraud awareness).
  • Support the Community Impact Leader with coordinating the annual scholarship application process, including application timelines, judging coordination, fundraising efforts to sustain the scholarship fund, and collaboration with the Marketing team to promote the program.
  • Serve on the Swinging for Scholarships golf outing planning committee
  • Build and maintain relationships with nonprofits, schools, chambers, and community partners.
  • Serve as a trusted point of contact for collaboration opportunities and community inquiries.
  • Attend external partner meetings and community discussions to represent M1 and bring back insights for program development.
  • Present updates, stories, and impact highlights on internal channels, including M1’s Collab Call, team meetings, new employee orientation, and relevant cross-functional gatherings.
  • Support internal communication efforts to engage team members in volunteer opportunities and promote community initiatives.
  • Collaborate closely with Marketing, Branch Leadership, and Grant Writing to ensure alignment of the credit union’s goals.
  • Support the intake, evaluation, and processing of sponsorship and donation requests.
  • Help coordinate event activities and ensure consistent branding and alignment with M1’s giving pillars.
  • Track outcomes and provide follow-up reporting.
  • Gather stories, photos, quotes, and impact data from events, school presentations, Little Free Library activities, and volunteer efforts.
  • Partner with Marketing to develop content for social media, newsletters, the annual Impact Report, credit union award submissions, and internal features.
  • Maintain organized tracking of community metrics, dashboards, and content archives.
  • Promote volunteer opportunities and support organization-wide participation.
  • Track volunteer hours and engagement.
  • Provide day-of support to ensure strong volunteer experience and smooth logistics.
  • Maintain calendars, timelines, impact logs, project plans, and partner contact lists.
  • Track budgets related to community programs, Little Free Libraries, financial education, sponsorships, and grants.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational policies, guidelines, and youth-related safety protocols.
  • Prepare reports, dashboards, and updates as needed.
  • Fulfill other duties as assigned.
