About The Position

The Community/Home Pre-K Early Intervention Teacher (PEIP) Teacher delivers education services to identified preschoolers, ages 3-5 years, with exceptionalities in a center-based community or home setting.

Requirements

  • Successful candidates will be detail-oriented, independent self-starters who demonstrate an unwavering commitment to raising student achievement and who have a record of high performance in challenging situations and will also demonstrate and/or possess:
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Certification in Early Childhood Education or Elementary Education.
  • A minimum of three (3) years teaching experience.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and data management skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and collaboration abilities.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with an ability to use quantitative and qualitative data to make decisions and recommendations.
  • Working knowledge of federal and state laws, policies and regulations relevant to schools.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Google Suite.
  • Sitting is required part of each workday.
  • Must be able to operate office equipment.
  • Standing, walking, reaching, bending, lifting up to 30 pounds is sometimes required.
  • Ability to provide own transportation to schools, work locations and meeting sites.
  • Mobility skills necessary to access a variety of work locations.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree in Special Education.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains certification in the Infant, Toddler and Pre-K CLASS tool.
  • Conducts CLASS observations.
  • Coordinates and conducts both initial and review IEPs
  • Works with Community early education providers who have identified students with special needs in their programs.
  • Provides direct and consultative educational services to identified exceptional preschoolers in a center-based community or home setting.
  • Provides training to parents of identified preschoolers with special needs.
  • Coordinates related services with educational services to students in the community/home setting.
  • Provides in service training to community early education providers.
  • Assists in the transition process of students entering into the preschool program and exiting preschoolers into school-aged program.
  • Works with special education preschool staff on identified program needs.
  • Lift, move, or position preschoolers on caseload as needed on their IEP.
  • Performs all job responsibilities, as applicable, listed under the special education teacher job description.
  • Fulfills duties traditionally expected of those in teaching profession.
  • Lesson Plans.
  • Instruction.
  • Collaborates with colleagues and departments.
  • Completes special education progress notes every nine weeks, complete TS GOLD assessment on students at each checkpoint.
  • Maintains positive and timely interaction with parents/guardians relative to the performance or conduct of students assigned to the teacher as well as other school related obligations.
  • Attends IEP meetings in the role of Official Designated Representative.
  • Maintain a current CLASS observation certificate and perform CLASS observations as either lead or double coder.
  • Assists with supporting classroom teachers across the district as assigned.
  • Provides instructional class coverage during teacher absences and/or vacancies, subject to the School Board policy on additional compensation for “teachers as subs.”
  • Supervision of assigned students in the classroom and in the school during session times.
  • Attends meetings generally associated with the instruction of students.
  • Attends PEIP department meetings.
  • Attends professional development or training sessions.
  • Attends IEP meetings.
  • Attends parent-teacher conferences or other parent events.
  • Attends school board committee, regular board meetings, or special board meetings upon request.
  • Required to carry and answer district issued cell phone during normal work hours.
  • Performs other job-related duties assigned by the Director of Early Childhood (Pre-K).
