The Community Health Worker (CHW) serves as a Lung Health Navigator, combining outreach, engagement, and patient navigation to improve access to lung cancer screening for individuals at high risk. While supporting all community members, this role places a special emphasis on populations disproportionately affected by lung cancer, particularly American Indian and Alaska Native communities. As part of a collaborative team, the CHW identifies people at high risk for lung cancer, determines eligibility for screening , and provides navigation support to coordinate screening and follow-up across community clinics, Fred Hutch Cancer Center, and partner organizations. Key responsibilities include outreach and navigation support to help individual address barriers to screening and ensur e timely follow-up to support optimal care.
