The Community Health Advocate for Northside Hospital will provide comprehensive outreach and education by developing a network of community groups and individuals focused on cancer-related health care issues. Primary goals include serving as the liaison between the community and the resources and extensive health education programs available to them through Northside Hospital (NH) or through local community/government/ health care organizations. Special focus for this position is placed on factors to consider when working in community based settings with disparate populations. The Community Health Advocate is part of an interdisciplinary team that includes medical providers, social workers and patient navigators. This position was developed to support the goals of a NHCI's participation in a national oncology research program and to support the mission and strategic plan of the Cancer Institute.
