If our values align with yours, then this opportunity is tailor-made for you! Our Community Day Services: This is our 100% community-based day program serving adults with developmental disabilities. This program focuses on pre-vocational skills, safe use of public transportation, social skills practice, and exploration of individual interests.

Requirements

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with individuals with disabilities, their family members, employers, and others in a positive and constructive manner.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Must pass a DOJ Live Scan fingerprinting background clearance.
  • Valid California Driver’s License, automobile insurance, and reliable transportation.

Nice To Haves

  • Fluent in Spanish.
  • Cultural awareness and adaptability.
  • Familiarity with the Los Angeles Metro system (MetroGo app, route planning, etc.).
  • Crisis management skills.
  • Prior experience supporting individuals with disabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Meeting participants at a community hub each morning, and facilitating the scheduled activities for the day, including the use of public transportation.
  • Providing opportunities for the participants to develop socialization/interpersonal communication skills and practice self-regulation/coping techniques.
  • Providing hands-on training, observation, and evaluation of the participant's pre-vocational skills, and finding educational opportunities or classes to assist with further development.
  • Advocating for participants' inclusion in the community and empowering them to exercise their rights.
  • Using BuildAbility’s digital program to log the individual’s progress and performance.
