About The Position

The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) is seeking a part-time Community Fitness Center Instructor to join our dynamic therapy, community fitness, and sports performance family. This position involves implementing best practice fitness programming tailored to the needs of community fitness members. The instructor will collaborate with the fitness manager to provide individualized fitness and aquatic training, ensuring optimal and safe exercise. Effective communication skills are essential for maintaining positive relationships with co-workers, fitness members, management, and various stakeholders.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Science
• Appropriate National Fitness Certification
• 1 Year of Experience in exercise instruction
• Experience in aquatic exercise and instruction
• Specialty Exercise Certification(s)

Responsibilities

• Coordinates group fitness program, including communications with instructors and members on schedule changes, substitute requirements, etc.
• Maintains monthly group fitness schedule and distributes appropriately to instructors and members
• Develops and presents lectures on fitness and wellness related topics
• Assists with fitness center membership recruitment efforts and maintains fitness center membership database
• Maintains supply records, monitors inventory, and orders supplies as needed
• Maintains activity database for wellness and fitness programs as assigned
• Performs other duties as assigned
