About The Position

The Community Enhancement Officer is responsible for ensuring compliance with the City of Miramar's ordinances and codes, as well as promoting beautification programs. This role involves conducting inspections, maintaining logs of field activities, and collaborating with various stakeholders to uphold building codes and regulations. The officer will report directly to the Chief Code Compliance Officer and assist in various administrative tasks related to building code compliance.

Requirements

• Vocational/technical diploma required.
• Two years of experience in building inspection or equivalent education and training.
• Basic computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Valid Florida driver's license.

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of building construction principles and practices.
• Understanding of plumbing, mechanical, gas, and electrical codes.
• Ability to interpret building code provisions.

Responsibilities

• Initiate and maintain code compliance as outlined by the Florida Building Code.
• Participate in inspections for code compliance within the building division.
• Maintain a log of field activities and document related complaints.
• Issue verbal warnings, courtesy notices, and citations for building code violations.
• Assist in preparing building code cases for Special Magistrate or related litigation.
• Interact and communicate with city personnel, property owners, and the general public.
• Review plans and specifications to understand compliance requirements.
• Perform general administrative tasks including preparing reports and correspondence.
