The Human Dimension and Community Programs team is seeking a Community Engagement Specialist to join our dynamic, interdisciplinary team. A passion to serve and collaborate with underserved communities is critical to this role. Being a visible representative of the School in the community, this role requires excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with both community organizations and individual community members. Important for success in this role is being able to balance being in the field with administrative duties and strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Bilingual Spanish candidates are highly preferred. There are two available positions. Both are four-year private grant funded positions with a potential for continued employment within the School of Medicine at the conclusion of the four years. This role involves forming and sustaining community partnerships in the northern region to cement mutually beneficial programming between medical residents in our graduate medical education programs and the surrounding communities. It also includes coordination and administrative support to the physician faculty. This role involves forming and sustaining community partnerships in the northern region to increase our undergraduate medical education programming, with a particular focus on Paterson.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Social Work or other relevant area of study.
• Minimum of 1 or more years of relevant work experience.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient computer skills that include but are not limited to Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms.
• Valid Driver's License from a USA state.

Nice To Haves

• Bilingual Spanish candidates are highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develops and maintains data for all community engagement activities.
• Ensures all logistics related to community engagement activities are organized in a timely, efficient and accurate manner.
• Acts as a liaison for community organizations in planning and implementing community health improvement projects.
• Maintains and nurtures community partnerships including keeping up to date contact database for partnerships, vendors, community resources and key constituents.
• Participates in various training, meetings, committees, and related activities as indicated.
• Articulates the mission, vision, values of the program and its services as well as resources available throughout community health partnerships.
• Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
• Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
