About The Position

The Community Engagement Coordinator works closely with the Community Engagement Manager to advance internal and external community engagement and outreach efforts. The Community Engagement Coordinator facilitates community building, strengthens relationships, and supports the organizational goal of meeting community need to improve overall health. The Community Engagement Coordinator administers effective outreach programs, activities, and events to increase NFP’s visibility in the community, serves as an ambassador at various boards, coalitions, and initiatives to support NFP’s mission and goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in public health, social work, urban studies, human services, non-profit administration, or related field, or equivalent work experience in relevant role strongly preferred.
  • 2+ years in community organizing, neighborhood development, social services, or similar work experience required.
  • Established leadership and connections within underserved communities in area served.
  • Highly dependable and reliable with desire to deliver high quality work.
  • Passionate for creating social change and working with people from diverse cultural or ethnic backgrounds.
  • Able to develop, establish, and maintain effective working relationships with staff, patients, and the general public.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Able to multitask and meet deadlines while working independently.
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong interpersonal communication and presentation skills.
  • Valid driver’s license, auto insurance, and reliable personal transportation required.
  • Able to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, including through the use of electronic communication devices.
  • Able to sit, stand, bend, stoop, and walk for extended periods of time.
  • Occasional lifting of up to 30 lbs.

Nice To Haves

  • Healthcare experience preferred.
  • Ability to speak a second language strongly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Identify, develop, and maintain collaborative partnerships with community-based organizations.
  • Partner with community-based organizations to develop and implement effective health and wellness initiatives and educational programing to improve community health status (e.g. chronic disease, infant mortality, behavioral health) and acquire new patients.
  • Act as point of contact for community organizations and stakeholders and provide information on community engagement and public health education efforts and initiatives.
  • Assist patients and staff in identifying appropriate community resources to improve access to care, coverage, health, and social services.
  • Provide feedback to NFP leadership on community barriers and identify and recommend solutions, opportunities, or partnerships.
  • Prepare and present culturally appropriate educational materials, programming, and presentations for internal and external groups related to community events and initiatives.
  • Advocate for policy initiatives that affect the overall health and wellbeing of patients and the community.
