About the position

The Community Engagement Coordinator is a mission-driven and family-centered role that supports all volunteer recruitment, retention, stewardship, and programming at Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Texas (RMHC CTX). This position is responsible for developing, managing, and enhancing community and volunteer engagement programs that provide meaningful support to families with children receiving medical care. The Community Engagement Coordinator leads volunteer recruitment, training, cultivation, stewardship, retention, solicitation strategies, and community engagement initiatives to ensure the delivery of impactful RMHC CTX programs.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a recruitment plan to attract and retain individual volunteers and volunteer groups to assist the organization.
  • Develop proactive strategies to identify and recruit volunteers with the skills needed to meet program and operational needs.
  • Coordinate volunteer selection, placement, supervision, and stewardship to ensure effective program support and volunteer satisfaction.
  • In collaboration with RMHC CTX leadership, create dynamic volunteer engagement opportunities that align with RMHC CTX's mission and program needs.
  • Develop strategies to increase volunteer retention through engagement, stewardship, recognition, and meaningful involvement.
  • Organize monthly volunteer orientations with weekday, evening, and weekend options.
  • Provide training workshops for RMHC CTX staff to effectively manage volunteer shifts and assignments.
  • Develop volunteer training and stewardship materials, including videos, learning modules, and strategic communication pieces.
  • Create and manage a monthly communication plan to provide updates, training, engagement events, and recognition.
  • Coordinate group volunteering scheduling, orientation, and stewardship.
  • Manage the Meals from the Heart and Lunches with Love programs, ensuring timely scheduling and coordination.
  • Recruit, cultivate, steward, retain, and solicit a portfolio of volunteer-donors.
  • Collaborate with the Bryan/College Station RMHC CTX team to ensure services and coordination of meals and donations.
  • Manage volunteer data using Volunteer Hub, Raiser's Edge, and Family Registry.
  • Play a key role with the Development team by stewarding volunteers to potential donation opportunities.
  • Coordinate systems and processes that support volunteer data management and program logistics.
  • Conduct stewardship activities and engagement touchpoints with all group and corporate volunteers.
  • Participate in moves management meetings and work with the Development Team to identify prospective capital campaign and other major donors.
  • Develop collaborative relationships with community partners, nonprofit organizations, corporations and businesses.
  • Collaborate with the Communications and Marketing team to share impactful family stories and volunteer highlights.
  • Represent RMHC CTX at events such as volunteer fairs, community outreach programs, and donor engagement initiatives.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of prior experience in fundraising/nonprofit development, corporate giving, volunteer coordination or nonprofit program support.
  • Bilingual preferred but not required.
