About The Position

The Community Engagement and Volunteer Coordinator at Interfaith Works is responsible for recruiting, managing, and supporting volunteers to enhance the services provided at the Empowerment Center and New Leaf Shelter. This role involves coordinating volunteer activities, maintaining relationships with community partners, and ensuring a positive experience for volunteers. The position plays a crucial role in community outreach and engagement, contributing to the mission of supporting individuals experiencing homelessness and food insecurity.

Requirements

  • 1 - 3 years of experience in volunteer programming or program management.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience preferred.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to educate and motivate diverse teams of volunteers.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with confidence in public speaking.
  • Computer literacy, particularly in MS Office Software Suite; knowledge of Volgistics preferred.
  • Energetic, optimistic, and customer-centered personality.
  • Bilingual proficiency is a plus.
  • Flexible work schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Solicit and retain volunteers through effective relationship management.
  • Ensure a positive overall volunteer experience and manage necessary paperwork and waivers.
  • Maintain current volunteer information in the database.
  • Manage volunteer activities including orientation, record keeping, and recognition of volunteers.
  • Develop relationships with local congregations, businesses, universities, and community partners.
  • Identify needs and fulfill volunteer support for various programs, including Student Service Learning and court-ordered volunteers.
  • Support seasonal needs such as coat drives and school supplies drives.
  • Attend meetings with the IW Development Department.
  • Maintain accurate records for ENC volunteers and manage the Sign Up Genius for events.
  • Provide timely reports and perform other duties as assigned.
