This position is hybrid-eligible, with the expectation of on-site presence and local travel primarily throughout Orange County, as well as Los Angeles, Riverside, and San Bernardino counties. We’re looking for a community education & engagement specialist to serve as an ambassador and actively manage relationships with the credit union’s employer groups and community organizations. Your goal will be to support growth, generate awareness, and represent the credit union positively in a multitude of settings.

  • Champion the Credit Union difference by serving as a liaison between OCCU and the community, such as our employer groups, elected officials, and representatives from businesses and community-based organizations.
  • Build and expand partnerships—identifying opportunities for events to increase membership and participation in OCCU products and services. Examples of the events are employer group health fairs, open enrollment events, and financial literacy workshops.
  • Plan, schedule, and support onsite visits with partner organizations to promote OCCU offerings and present the value of credit union membership.
  • Collaborate across business lines to support the development and execution of campaigns that drive business and membership growth.
  • Support the Senior Community Education & Development Manager with performance tracking, event planning, budget monitoring, and partner relationship management.
  • Partner closely with branches— Recruiting branch employees to assist with facilitating the on-site events while sharing insights, supporting cross-functional initiatives, and contributing to membership and financial growth goals.
  • Deliver excellent service by responding to inquiries and providing consultative guidance.
  • BA/BS in Marketing, Communication, Business, or related field, or equivalent knowledge.
  • Up to three years of experience in community engagement, business development, sales, banking, or related experience.
  • Experience conducting outbound sales calls to business decision makers with the intent of scheduling events. These calls will be made by leveraging all communication channels; phone calls, emails, LinkedIn messages, video conferencing, in-person visits, etc.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Software Applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and CRM systems (SalesForce).
  • Strong presentation and public speaking skills with the ability to connect with current and potential members.
  • Strong time management, organizational, and prioritization skills with the ability to balance multiple priorities simultaneously and pivot with the needs of the business.
  • Reliable transportation to travel throughout the following counties: Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, and San Bernardino.
  • Excel at creating and planning event opportunities with business partners and the community.
  • Enjoy relationship-building and representing an organization with pride and professionalism.
  • Are energized by community engagement, on-site meetings, and connecting with diverse audiences.
  • Bring a mix of creativity, organization, and strategic thinking.
  • Excel at conducting compelling presentations about financial literacy that best serves the communities in our field of membership. Seize opportunities to sell and promote credit union products and services to new and existing members, contributing to the achievement of individual, branch, and credit union goals.
  • The targeted hourly rate range is $23.50 – 27.00. Final offer will be determined based on experience, education, training/certifications and specialized skills.
