About The Position

The Community Disaster Program Manager at the American Red Cross is responsible for supervising the implementation of disaster services programs in a designated geographic area. This role involves leading and managing a team of staff and volunteers focused on local preparedness, response, and recovery efforts, as well as fostering partnerships with government entities. The position requires active engagement with the community to ensure readiness for disasters and may involve deployment to disaster relief operations outside the region at least once a year.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
• Minimum 3 years of related experience in disaster management or a similar field.
• At least 1 year of lead or supervisory experience.
• Valid Driver's License.

Responsibilities

• Manage and support an employee and volunteer team responsible for disaster services programming.
• Supervise disaster cycle services activities within the assigned geographic area or specific functional activities within the region.
• Develop and support disaster volunteers who represent the communities served.
• Lead efforts to prepare and mobilize communities and engage partners for disaster response and recovery.
• Act as the local Red Cross disaster subject matter expert to enhance community engagement.
• Initiate and coordinate disaster relief operations in alignment with the Disaster Cycle Services Concept of Operations.
