About The Position

The Community Director at Wayne State University is a leadership role responsible for overseeing a residential community of approximately 365-900 students. This position focuses on student and community development initiatives, administrative responsibilities, and fostering a supportive environment that promotes student success and engagement. The Community Director is expected to embody the values of the Office of Housing & Residential Life and approach their work with a growth mindset centered on student development.

Requirements

• Master's degree from an accredited college or university in student development, student personnel, or a related field.
• Minimum of 2 years of job-related experience.

Responsibilities

• Be regularly available and visible to residents and staff to facilitate community development.
• Supervise and provide ongoing leadership development for resident advisor staff of 8-14.
• Communicate essential information to residential students and guests regarding behavioral expectations and safety issues.
• Partner with Area Administrative Coordinator on front desk functions and other administrative tasks.
• Maintain a safe and secure residential facility and oversee necessary reports and records.
