Position Summary Direct Support Professional at Community Support Services provide high quality, person centered, hands on support to individuals with a variety of developmental and/or physical disabilities. Hands-on support includes assistance in all activities of daily living as identified by an individual’s habilitation team. These supports may include, but are not limited to, daily cleaning responsibilities, maintenance and administration of medications, transportation, assistance with personal hygiene, and administrative duties.

Requirements

Confidence in interaction with individuals of all ages and with a variety of disabilities.
Ability to learn and understand applied behavior analysis principles and apply them to various situations.
Good written and verbal communication skills.
Be able to work independently and within a team atmosphere.
Ability to be flexible in all areas.
Resourceful in accomplishing tasks and directives.
Provide support without fostering dependence.
Make defendable, common sense decisions.
HS Diploma or Equivalent
A valid driver’s license and good driving record, as well as proof of current auto insurance is required.
Must have dependable transportation with functioning heat and air conditioning systems and fully functioning seat belts for safety.
Must pass all required federal, state and agency required background checks.
Obtain and maintain all required training, including but not limited to, CPI Association requirements for physical intervention, CPR, First Aid Training, Medication Administration, ABA principals and implementation techniques in accordance with CSS policy.
All employees should possess the ability to: Lift 50 pounds or more on a repeated basis as required. Potentially bend, stoop, kneel, and twist repeatedly. Operate any required equipment with good dexterity. Traverse changing terrain.
Periodically alternate between standing, sitting, and walking.

Nice To Haves

Prefer one (1) year experience working with individuals with disabilities.

Responsibilities

Review and Implementation of the Individualized Plan (ISP) and Behavior Support Plan (BSP).
Provide quality services and support while demonstrating respect and dignity of the individual served by interacting with the individual served in a positive, person centered manner.
Commitment to providing quality services to individuals and their families.
Monitoring of individual physical and emotional health.
Follow operational policies and procedures developed by the Agency for all areas of individual care.
Submit all required documentation by the required deadlines.
Maintain open, positive, person centered communication with Supervisor(s) and stakeholders.
Adhere to staffing rotation expectations as established by CSS policy and program processes.
Must be able to transport individuals served during scheduled working hours.
Complete DSP scheduling and on-call responsibilities.
Performs related work as assigned
