About The Position

Founded in 1988, Food & Friends provides medically-tailored meals, nutrition support, and friendship to people living with AIDS, cancer, and other life-challenging illnesses. Our team of seventy employees and thousands of volunteers delivers meals and hope to people living in the District of Columbia and multiple counties across Maryland and Virginia. There is no charge or income qualification for our services, which are rendered solely on the basis of medical need. Food & Friends is proud to be a nationally-recognized leader of the Food is Medicine movement. We seek a Community Dietitian to provide nutrition counseling and education to Maryland clients living with diabetes and other serious illnesses. The Dietitian will: Provide nutrition counseling and ongoing follow-up to clients via phone, telehealth, or home visits; Document all client nutrition assessments and follow-ups in the client database; Ensure that clients receive appropriate diet modifications; Coordinate mailings, printing, documentation, and filing of client contact materials; and  Assist with development of client education materials and publications.    Must be willing to work onsite at Food & Friends' Washington, DC headquarters.

Requirements

  • Must be licensed (or able to be licensed) in Maryland with a minimum of one year of related experience.
  • Must be self-motivated, collaborative, and possess strong time management skills.
  • A valid driver’s license and willingness to do home visits are required.
  • knowledge of evidence-based nutrition
